(More customer reviews)These headlights really do work as advertised. I was a little skeptical about the tri-color light. But these lights actually put alot uasable light on the road.
When compared to the factory bulbs, I am getting an extra 50' of beam length, objects on the sides of the road are seen with greater clarity. During light rain, I did not find it necessary to use my fog lights to see the road. I would reccomend the NightGuide Headlight as a good replacement over OEM.

The Sylvania's were not near as bright as the original Philips, when the Philips were fresh and over time, they got dimmer much quicker then the Philips bulbs.
Now, I'm looking for the Philips H11 and the only place I can find them is from a company in the UK. It amazes me that I can't find them here in the States, when they come as the OEM bulb in the Camary.

After reading Consumer Reports' review from December 2006, I now see why. They found no noticable driving improvement by using these bulbs and they tend to burn out too quickly. I see gimickry all thru the auto headlight bulb market!
Consumer Reports recommomended the standard halogen bulbs.

(More customer reviews)The bulbs are cheap, it's not the first time I got sylvania bulbs and I know and accept their quality variance for the price (glass embedded with sand, sealing glues oozing out of the seams excessively, etc.), or so I thought.
One of the bulb I got had focus problems. The light spilled over to one side heavily, making the beams look "crooked" when you drive. The output also look a bit dim and doesn't have enough "spread", but instead focuses on two spots. For the money I guess it is okay, but I sure got what I paid for.
Strange but I had some old plain Sylvanias on my car before, and I remember they worked better. Hmm.. Must be my memory failing.

(More customer reviews)I just had these installed the other day in my Miata. Even though I like to do it myself, the owners manual recommended against it. Of course I ignored their warning and went about installing them myself. I found out quickly that you have to have tiny hands and a lot of flexibility to get to them. Since it was already 95 degrees outside and probably much warmer in my garage, I gave in and went to the dealer.
I did not like the very yellow-green of the HID bulbs that came with the car and wanted something on the white-blue scale. I went for the 9000K because of the lower price and I think I went a little too blue. If you park it in front of a white wall or garage door, they do not seem to show up that blue but as soon as you get out on the road with all the other cars with their very yellow headlights, these really stand out. If that is what you are looking for, these are the bulbs for you.
I may have to drop down to something in the 6000-7000K region. Not only do they seem too blue to me on the road, the visibility is more reduced than I could have imagined. The factory bulbs (around 4300K) shone done the road quite a distance. These cut off so much shorter.
I see vehicles all the time with 10000K and 12000K bulbs all the time and I really have to wonder how they drive at night. They are for show only. I guess if they are easy to change out, it would not be a problem but my car requires a trip to the dealer to do so.

Mind you, I had bought what I thought was " the best " bulbs before, so this was a personal experiment for my own piece of mind. Sure enough, there was no problem physically seeing the difference of the new product. Your not going to see that overtly blue sheen that you see in a new german car, but, it's a true blueish halogen. Not the fake "car punk" blue color in the bulbs that try to be real! As I write this, this technology is already dated, so move on if your out for the latest! JS

(More customer reviews)After 8 years, one of the original headlight bulbs in our Honda Odyssey burned out. I discovered that Sylvania had these really cool replacement bulbs that were brighter and whiter than the OEM ones. Not wanting a yellow (oem bulb) and a (new) bright white one, I replaced both bulbs with the Sylvania type, the 9003/HB2 "High Performance Lighting". It cost about $[...] for two. Everything was fine for about 7 months until one of them burned out. I thought that was weird, so I bought a new one, installed it, then looked for the warranty statement on the replacement bulb package. There is none. I wrote to the customer service at www.sylvania.com/auto, expecting them to be really embarrassed at the short life. They weren't. Here's the important part of their reply:
"The life of any halogen bulb varies based on vehicle type, vehicle voltage, amount of time the bulb is on, road conditions, proper installation, and correct application. The average life of SilverStar® headlights are approximately one year. If the bulbs do not meet your expectations, we will replace them within a year of purchase when obtained through an authorized US retailer.
With our SYLVANIA SilverStar® products, the primary goal is to offer the brightest, whitest light. Research has shown SilverStar® headlights improve driver visibility and reaction time. However, since our SilverStar® headlights are up to 35% brighter and our SilverStar® ULTRA headlights are up to 50% brighter than standard halogen, they may have a shorter life span compared to our other products.
We offer a wide variety of products to satisfy customer needs including brightness, durability, color options and increased visibility. We recommend evaluating your lighting annually as part of your regular maintenance."They then included instructions for replacing the burned out bulb - a ONE TIME courtesy. That's RIGHT, WHEN it happens again, I'm out of luck as evidenced by this closing:
"If you experience similar performance with the replacement product please contact us again so that we can make an alternate lighting recommendation for your vehicle."
So, to summarize:
1. Silverstar bulbs aren't engineered to last. Much like a meteor, they're designed to be very bright and burn out quickly. But, meteor shows are free and Sylvania Silverstar bulbs cost $[...] a pair.
2. The website lists the performance rating as 200 hours. Yes, for an AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCT. If you use your lights ONE HOUR a DAY, these aren't designed to last even a YEAR.
3. Sylvania gives NO CLUE on the packaging that you're signing up for a once a year replacement schedule at $[...] when you start down this road.
4. Sylvania will grace you with ONE replacement under warranty if it fails before a year is up, but that's it. After the first failure, you're out of luck.
This is a TERRIBLE PRODUCT only because I'm not interested in having headlights burn out while I'm traveling or at other random times at one year intervals. Especially when it's a product that's a little tough to replace (you can't get any finger oils or other oils/dirt on the bulb during installation or it will kill it prematurely - this is standard for any halogen or xenon bulb gas product). OEM products last 7-10 YEARS or more, but even 5 years on this product would be acceptable. 1 year or LESS is NOT for this type of product, and Sylvania is scamming people for doing this.
This is a SHAMEFUL product that Sylvania should be embarrassed to offer for sale. NO one should buy it - EVER. I would give it 0 stars if I was allowed to.
