At both stops, I fitted the Wrap and locked the doors. It performed exactly as advertised, with the alarm lights flashing. Just the slight movement in washing the windshield caused the alarm to sound. The Wrap was an exact fit on my steering wheel with no slippage possible. No one could possibly drive my car with the thing on. I felt most secure on this trip and would recommend the Wrap to anyone with a need for serious protection. I will not use it daily because it is very bulky and storing it in the cabin is impractical. Still, if I need it, I will use it.

(More customer reviews)If you have any other option besides an FM modulator to do what you need to do, do it. An FM modulator should be a last resort. That being said, I don't think I could be happier with this product, given the fact that I had no other options.
First, note that this is a WIRED modulator. Wireless modulators are worthless in the US because of the FCC mandated limitations of their broadcast range. Wired modulators like this one tap directly into the antenna in your car and send FM signals directly to your head unit. As such, you don't have interference from other FM transmissions--like radio stations.
As far as wired modulators go, in the same system I tried a Kenwood FM modulator and one from Metra. Both sounded horrible for anything but audio books. I added a ground loop isolator to the Kenwood setup, and it sounded better, but it was still too painful to listen to music through the modulator.
This Audiovox system comes with its own ground loop isolator, and together they sound far better than any other combination I had tried. Everything about this setup is a little smaller than other options I've used, so they fit behind the dash better.
All in all, if you're looking for the best FM modulator on the market, I believe you've found it. AudioVox makes a bad situation tolerable, and in fact, quite enjoyable.

Optima Batteries 8010-044 6V RedTop Starting Battery Review

(More customer reviews)This battery is expensive. I could have bought 3 normal!? lead acid batteries for the price that I paid for only one Optima battery. Why did I do that? I have a 1951 Ford that had a 6 volt system when it was new. I restored it and left it as original as possible. My current lead acid battery is 5 years old. It was leaking and causing corrosion on both battery terminals as well as eating the paint off my battery holder. I participate in a few old car restoration chats. Many, many of the other folks that have tried the 6 volt Optima assured me that I would not be sorry that I spent 3 times more money and I should go ahead a purchase this battery.
I bit the bullet, so to speak, and ordered the battery. I had already cleaned my cables and repainted my battery holder while waiting for the battery to arrive. I strapped it in with bungie cords and turned the key. I spins the engine as fast as a 12 volt. The car had been setting long enough for some of the gasoline to evaporate out of the carburator. With the old battery, I normally squirted some starter fluid down the carb before even attempting to start it. I just wanted to see if this battery is a great as I have been told.
The only thing that I can find to complain about is the size of the battery. I had to make a holddown for it. I cut up some sheet metal, bent it and welded it together in about an hour. I am now a happy owner of a battery that I think that I can trust. I'm also told that it will never leak and ruin my cables or battery holder.

(More customer reviews)I bought this product for my 2007 Impala hoping that I could get a cold air intake. Though it is not universal like it says it is. It states clearly on the box the apollo cannot be used in cars that have the mass air sensor or the air temperature sensor integrated in the air box! On top of that my box came almost completely destroyed from amazon the actual K&N box not the shipping box. The air filter actually chips when you attach the the hose. None the less if I bought it for almost $120.00 I plan to get my money's worth, I'm going to try to find some way of attaching it to my car.

XM Commander XMRVRFM001 Review

(More customer reviews)Okay, XM is really, really cool. But this review is not about XM, the concept/service. It is about the XM commander.
1) This unit, when hooked with the FM antenna connector, sounds horrible. Somewhere between an strong AM radio station and a weak FM one. This is not related to reception, it is just the dymanic range of the output. Reception was always consistant no matter where I drove.
2) The face light on this unit is very bright and cannot be dimmed. It is distracting and unsafe. It literally is as bright as a small flashlight. What a huge oversight!
3) The output level of this unit is so low, you must turn up the level of your head unit a lot to hear it. That causes the following problems:
a) Distortion - even with a good head unit, distortion is higher the louder you turn it.
b) Loud Blast of Static when you turn on the car. The XM commander comes up a few second after the radio - since you have the FM radio turned to a blank station, you get a LOUD blast of static for a few seconds until XM comes on. This is worse than it might at first seem. And no, you will not remember to turn off the unit every time you turn off the car.
c) Switching from XM commander to FM etc. causes a HUGE volume difference. This requires lots of blasts of loudness all around, and is incredibly annoying.
(And yes, I am aware of the XM commander audio adjustment, but it does little to mitigate this problem)
A great concept (XM) but a horrible solution (XM commander)
Do yourself a favor and change your head unit to an all-inclusive system such as those from Clarion. Yes it costs more but you will be thrilled with XM when it works right.
I'm having my installer take this unit out of my car and putting in a head unit. I learned the hard way... I don't want you to.

Pylon Wiper Blades - 18 inch Review

(More customer reviews)If you're looking at these blades, you probably are doing so for the same reason I did: they're dirt cheap. However, let me save you some money, frustration, and possibly keep you a bit safer -- these are rubbish. Plain and simple, these blades are bad. If I was ambitious, I'd do a video review and show how horrendous these really are in action, but, to be honest, I'm just not that ambitious feeling right now.
Their first test came after a snow storm, following a semi, which was kicking up large amounts of spray thanks to the snow and ice being melted by salt on the road. Those of you who live in northern climates know what a nasty, hard to see through film salt spray from roads leaves on your windshield. Well, these wipers hardly cleared a thing. I had to pull over and clean it by hand with snow from the ditch more than once.
Fast forward a couple weeks. A rare December RAIN storm comes (usually any precipitation in December is snow up here). Perhaps these blades are just not build for tough winters, but at least they should handle rain, right? WRONG. Although better than the salt spray, to say these did a decent job would be a gross exaggeration.
Finally on my way to work one morning there was a slight film of the aforementioned salt spray. I hit my wipers and washer fluid to clean it up, and... nothing. It's as if somehow the blades levitate OVER my now sprayed windshield? The top of the arc on the passenger side did clear about an inch of fluid, but that is utterly worthless to me, the driver.
So I swung into Wal-Mart and got a new set of blades of a different brand, which work exponentially better. The moral of the story, spend a few dollars more, save yourself money and time in the long run.
