(More customer reviews)I own two of these excellent chargers - they are very simple to operate and very durable.
The chargers are weatherproof, and you can permanently mount them in the engine compartment with the provided ring terminals, or just use the alligator clips.
The charger has a battery status indicator (low / full), and settings for Motorcycle, Car, or Gel battery. The charger cycles from trickle current, to pulses, and shuts off when the battery is full. There is no better charger for winter storage battery tending, bringing nearly dead batteries back to life, or just recharging boat batteries slowly overnight.
Finally, I should mention that the current version of the 3300 has some improvements over the already excellent older version (I now have one of each). The latest version includes:
- Heavier gauge wiring
- Much heavier and more durable alligator clips
- A nice zip-up storage case

Four-step Automatic Battery Charging Cycle There is no need for any specific knowledge of batteries or their charging methods; the Multi US 3300 will take care of it. The Multi US 3300 utilizes a four-step automatic charging cycle. First, patented desulphation functionality allows for possible reconditioning of batteries that have lost significant power due nonuse. This is followed by Bulk Charging, when 80% of charging takes place; then Absorption Charging which completes charging up to virtually 100%; and finally Pulse/Maintenance Charging, in which the battery receives a pulse of electricity when the voltage drops below 95%, keeping the battery in perfect condition indefinitely when it is not used. If the battery is loaded and the battery’s terminal voltage drops to 12.9V the charger automatically switches back to the beginning of the four-step cycle. Also, the Multi US 3300 can be connected for months and it is specifically developed for seasonal vehicles.

(More customer reviews)I am the owner of a 2005 Boxter-S, and like most owners who live in areas with inclement weather in winter, I park my car for much of the season. Even with everything off & the doors closed & windows up, the car has a significant current draw, and will deplete the battery after a week or 2. Throw in some below zero temps, and starting the car becomes a challenge. Now there are ways to preserve the integrity of the motor & everything else: fire the car up every once in a while, and drive it long enough to bring all parts up to working temperature. This will also take care of the charge in the battery. However, the slow drainage in the meantime, followed by the heavy current demand at startup will significantly shorten the life of the battery. Enter the Dual Mode Maintainer. This handy device will keep your battery topped up during the storage phase, and is convenient enough to use even during shorter periods (vacations, etc). It has a super long cord, voiding the need for additional extension cords. I checked the voltage with an accurate digital multimeter, and it maintains the battery right between 13.2-13.4volts, which should keep the cells happy for a long time. Also the unit is current limited so if it's applied to a partially depleted battery, the charge rate is nice & slow to minimize sulfation. The only downside: if your battery is depleted to the point that it won't start the car, plan on overnight charging. Overall- an important, reasonably priced accessory.
