I had to return this item after learning finally, after the fact, that the vacuum cannister requires 7 mmHg of ported vacuum or more to operate the advance. Unfortunately my dual Weber IDF 40 set up on my 2.0 L type IV VW bus engine pulls only 5-6mmHg of max ported vacuum, just not enough. Adjusting the adjustable cannister advance will not compensate for the need of 7 mmHg minimum. The stats are not easy to find, it took more than one phone call to Mallory to get someone there knowledgeable in this detail. Amazon is to be commended on their prompt and easy / no hassle refund to include even shipping... of course I never installed the unit on the engine, just applied vacuum to cannister as noted above inline with vacuum gauge in order to figure this out. If you can pull 7 mmHg or greater of ported vacuum on your set up then you are in business. Thanks Amazon for not leaving me stuck with a relatively expensive component I really couldn't use. Hopefully this info I am providing here will assist other potential buyers in determining if they should buy this distributor for their application or not.
