(More customer reviews)I have long been a Bosch sparkplug fan, going back to my first Porsche (1968) followed not long after by my first BMW Bavaria (1972). I have tried other plugs, most notably NGK (my Lotus, Ferrari and my vintage Brabham Formula 2 race car). Long before that, I was a Champion addict (my two Alfa Romeos, a Triumph Spitfire, and several domestics). I can't say that NGK or Champion makes a bad plug. The NGKs were especially well suited to the Lotus' race engine and ditto for the Brabham. But then no one but Bosch had a platinum plug at back then, and I could not seem to find a good heat range (read: cold enough) match up between the Bosch platinums and the Lotus or Brabham race engines like I could with the NGK.
Fast forward to the 21st century. Bosch now seems to have the right plug for almost every application. Platinums are now improved with the addition of irridium for higher heat tolerance. And then there are the plugs with multiple electrodes. At first, I thought this might just be a gimmick, but now I am sold. These plugs show a slight improvement on the dyno (don't get carried away with expectations, but anything that is better trumps any thing else). They also show an distinct improvement in emissions, which suggests a better flame front and more complete burn.
At this point, I am sold. Inspections shows these stay really clean, and I expect a very long useful life. That makes them a bargain, but even more so when you factor in the price. I remember paying at least twice this for Bosch platinums back in the 1960's! Once I work my way through the remaining stockpiles of NGKs, this Bosch Fusion IR will be the only plug I will keep on hand.
